I chose \u201cSmall-town life<\/strong>\u201d because Empire Falls is all about the experiences and relationships in a small, struggling town in Maine. It looks at Miles Roby\u2019s relationship with his daughter Tick, his ex-wife Janine, and the lasting impact of his late mother.
